Sunday morning and within one week February 2019 is already gone.

Have you ever dreamed about a political career ? If you see the salaries that those politicians get, does that make you dream ? Politics isn’t always seen as a money-making career. After all, politicians serve in positions of public service. Nobody goes in expecting to make Bezos money (at least not through their annual salary). But factors like cost of living and internal politics do play a part in the size of a politician’s paycheck.

Some leaders make a salary pretty close to the median income of their area, whereas many others are far away on the high end of the salary scale. On the website WorkandMoney.com, I found a list of salaries of the best 27 paid politicians. Do you know the salary of President Macron, President Trump or Chancellor Merkel ?

Here’s a summary rundown of some of the most prominent political jobs and political appointments in the world. All salaries are in U.S. dollars.

The best paid politician on this planet is the Prime Minister of Singapore. See his salary in the picture. Current officeholder is Lee Hsien Loong. The median local salary is around 39k $. Second is the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Carrie Lam with a salary of $578,320.  Third is the president of Switzerland with a salary of $482,958. President Trump comes in 4th with a salary of 400.000$ followed by the Prime Minister of Australia with a salary of 378.000$.

Do you know that the Chancellor (330K) in Austria earns more than President Putin (330K) ?
Do you know that the Mayor of San Francisco (302K) earns more than the Prime Minister of Canada (262K) ?
Do you know that the Mayor of New York (258K) has a higher salary than Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany (244K) ?

The French president Macron earns 5 times more than the median local household income $45,826 in France.

Who has the lowest salary ? It’s the president Xi Jinping with a salary of 22.000$.

Actually there’s one person who gets nothing…Melania Trump. Although an unpaid position, the first lady’s office is an important one when it comes to managing political campaigns, social causes and overseeing official occasions and events.

So you see there’s a huge gap between countries and presidents, prime ministers and mayors. I think it was interesting to know. If you ambition a political career, you can read this article “Where Does a Political Career Start?

So let’s move on to our Market Analysis.

Market Analysis

When we analyse the performance of the SPY (screenshot 24 February) we can clearly see that the SPY continues the trend. I recently wrote we could the 280 level and that comes closer. Since Christmas investors have been buying the dips and the market has moved up. A pull back seems to come closer. We can’t simply move up. Investors look for a solution in the trade war between China and US and other catalysts that can drive the market higher.

Nobody knows the direction going forward. There are many fundamentals that can change in the near future. There may be an impact within the year 2019 or not for 5 years….

The most important question you as an investor have to ask is “How much volatility risk or absolute risk do I have to take to achieve a given return?” Read this question very  carefully and think about it ! The financial system is more stressed than ever before. There’s more debt than the crisis in 2009. China is still struggling and in a transition phase from an export economy to a consumer spending economy.

According to Garry Davis (and I agree), you don’t want to be fully invested at this time… be cautious. Continue to invest but with a sharp eye for the risks.

Let’s dive in the numbers of my January Passive Income Income Report.

My Passive Income in January 2019

In January 2019 we received a total of 712,12 $ passive income. We received dividend income from our ETFs and we made an options income of 186$. We did trade NFLX and the SPY calls.

Below you see the monthly summary overview of the cash flow coming into my bank account.

The Euro/Dollar trend

We keep on following the EURO/USD valuation. Now with more interest as we are learning how to benefit from this in the FOREX market.

Basically it is chopping within a range and going forward we will also make money from those fluctuations.

Going forward

in March we will focus on my mom’s portfolio and my kids’ portfolio. We want to put the fundamentals to reach our yearly targets. For my own portfolio, I focus on three things. Generating more income with options, learning FOREX and maybe also adding some dividend stocks.

So how will I spend my Sunday afternoon ? I will attend the event “The Art of Trading” event where a master trader educator will teach his secrets and a millionaire will speak about his millionaire mindset. Is that how you spend your sunday too? I keep on repeating myself but invest in yourself. What if one day your employer says…time to go my friend. We don’t need you anymore. Make sure you have a plan B.
